Bojangles’ customer finds $4,500 in cash instead of fresh chicken

James Minor said what happened to him at the drive-thru when he was ordering lunch at the Nine Mile Road location left a bad taste in his mouth. When he checked his order he found $4,500 in cash and some deposit slips instead of piping-hot chicken. However, he says he was disrespected when he tried to return the money.

Minor returned home with his order and found $4500 in cash and deposit slips instead of chicken. He sent it back to the employee at the window, and they told him to come back around in several minutes when fresh chicken would be out. I know what integrity is.

“Following a thorough investigation and conversations between our Director of Operations and Mr Minor, we are reviewing some of our internal procedures to ensure something like this doesn’t happen again”.

Minor went inside to alert the restaurant’s management, but he didn’t like the reaction.

“He told me in an arrogant, nasty attitude being disrespectful saying that, ‘We would’ve called the authorities on you, too, ‘” Minor said.

The man says that he was raised with “integrity” and was taken aback after his good deed because many people would not have returned the money.

The store eventually offered Minor a tailgate party and a new meal. He told WTVR he called the district manager’s office to file a complaint, but had the phone hung up on him. Although he was later offered a $100 gift certificate, he told CBS 6 that he was not interested. But he said he wanted something else.

“I deserve respect, an apologetic letter from the Bojangles’ company, and probably a cash reward”, Minor told WTVR.

WTVR reached out to Bojangle’s corporate headquarters for comment but did not hear back.

He pulled off – and discovered $4,500 stuffed in a sealed bag stashed in the bottom of the cardboard box underneath the wrapped pieces of fried chicken.

James Minor is not pleased with the way he was treated by Bojangles
