Wind and rain warnings issued for Galway
Cllr Niall McNelis from Galway City Council said a change in the wind was the catalyst for the floods: “The wind seemed to have changed last night about half four and if we had known that the wind was going to change, of course, we would have been able to have the auto park closed and more precautions put in place”.

Surface water on roads caused delays to morning traffic in Bandon, while strong cross winds also caused danger in routes around Youghal.
The Status Orange weather warning was issued at 8am this morning as the country braces itself for strong gales with occasional storm force on all coasts of Ireland and on the Irish Sea.
The impending impact of Storm Jonas has led Met Éireann to issue issued a flood warning which applies to the coastal areas of counties Wexford, Waterford, Cork, Kerry, Clare, Galway and Mayo.
A Status Yellow rainfall warning has also been issued for West Munster, Connacht and Donegal, with rainfall of up to 40mm expected in places.
