Doctors say the 74-year-old soccer great left the Albert Einstein hospital on Monday, less than a week after undergoing a procedure for nerve root decompression.

Pele won three World Cups as a player and has been named Football Player of the Century by FIFA, Athlete of the Century by the global Olympic Committee, and a national treasure by Brazil’s government.

Last November, he underwent surgery for kidney stones and then came down with an infection that required treatment in a hospital intensive care unit for several days.

In May, he had surgery for a prostate condition.

“(We) inform that Edson Arantes do Nascimento was discharged today.
