NFC CHAMPIONSHIP: Newton, Panthers rout Cardinals, 49-15
The high-powered offense and risky defense that earned the Cardinals a 13-3 mark and the NFC West title was nowhere to be found in Carolina, and the Panthers mauled Arizona in a 49-15 blowout to deny them a trip to Super Bowl 50. “We’re about winning a championship”. “I was definitely forcing it”, Palmer told reporters after the game.

Carolina Panthers’ Andrew Norwell (68) and Byron Bell (77) team up to keep the Cleveland Brown’s defense at bay during the second half of an NFL football game in Charlotte, N.C., Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014.
“We wanted to come out and play a complete game and I think the guys up front played exceptional”, linebacker Luke Kuechly said.
Palmer didn’t play well last week against the Packers, even in victory. It wasn’t going to be instant grits, quick grits. Carolina would punt on their next series too but Patrick Peterson would muff the punt and the Panthers would capitalize scoring on the next drive and putting them up 24-7 over the Cardinals. You can’t just dink and dunk.
“This is something that if it comes down to a pain tolerance and playing through it, I will be there”.
The Carolina Panthers’ biggest star will play on the world’s biggest stage. Coleman had two, including a key pick in the end zone, and Boston had another.
“We’ve just got to try to get some pressure on him”, he said. Carson Palmer threw four interceptions in the loss. “And you know what he can do with his legs”.
Palmer’s teammates had his back afterward.
I mean, how about the lack of a pass rush? New England’s Tom Brady (31) surpassed Adam Vinatieri (30) for the most games played in National Football League playoff history.
“And I know Carson’s heart”. This was never a contest from the get go. Then yesterday, Carolina blew out the Arizona Cardinals, 49-15 in the NFC Championship game.
As did all of the Arizona team before busing to the airport for a miserable red-eye flight home.
“It hurts to lose like this in this fashion”, Fitzgerald said. If you are feeling bad though, imagine the disappointment the Cardinals themselves are feeling. “But we just didn’t have it today, and that REALLY stings”. Peyton led his team to another AFC West championship – his fourth in a row with the Broncos – and a phenomenal season with a 12-4 record.
The Denver Broncos will play the Carolina Panthers in the Super Bowl in Santa Clara, Calif., on February 7.
Reaching the Super Bowl was a goal for the Panthers, Newton said, but it wasn’t THE goal. “You put so much in, and you come in here with such high expectations”.
It’s hard to say that Bruce Arians did a bad job, but whatever the game plan was in this game, it didn’t work.
A few minutes later, however, he took a more positive approach. The Cardinals (14-4) finished with seven turnovers as a team, tied for the sixth-most in a playoff game during the Super Bowl era.

“Next year, it’s the Super Bowl or bust”.
