Chris Christie Returning to N.J. Ahead of Storm

Christie was unapologetic for his rapid return to New Hampshire after the weekend blizzard, insisting Monday morning “there is no residual damage, there is no flooding damage”, and that critics who took issue with him resuming his presidential campaign are people “who attack anything I do”.

On Sunday, Christie explained to CNN’s Jake Tapper that he had paused his presidential campaign so he could return to New Jersey during an historic winter storm.

After meeting with cabinet officials Friday evening, Christie told reporters in Newark that he made a decision to return home after getting briefed Friday morning that the storm was going to bring “some measure of significance”.

“I want to make sure that the people of my state feel safe and secure”, Christie said, noting that he’s been on the phone with the National Weather Service, National Guard and various government agencies.

“I was in my waders in three feet of water and my friend is saying Gov. Christie is on TV saying it’s not that bad”, Maggie Day, 39, whose Stone Harbor, New Jersey, home and shop were damaged in Jonas, told The Philadelphia Inquirer. “We know how to do it”, Christie said Thursday. “As soon as we got that information at 11:30, I announced I was coming home and [was] home before the first snowflake hit the ground”. On CNNs “State of the Union, ” Christie said the remark showed “a real immaturity from Sen.

“We’re not all that concerned about it and especially because it’s happening on a weekend, that makes it much easier”, he said Friday. Marco Rubio’s voting attendance record in Congress, and was harshly criticized for remaining on a Disney World vacation in 2010 while most of the state was digging out of a massive snow storm. “Not everyone is raised”, said Paul Daley, the emergency management coordinator for the New Jersey shore community Toms River.

“I’m anticipating a yeoman’s job”, Jackson said. “It’s pretty unbelievable to say it”, Christie said, warning New Hampshire voters not to cast their votes out of anger. That is if they need something to help them fall asleep at night.

He should leave New Jersey’s to Christie. While he drew praise for his response from many state residents, he also endured criticism from conservatives when he commended Obama’s response, just days before the Democratic president was reelected for a second term. Christie said roadways had been pre-brined, but suggested people stay home on Saturday.
