Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and former Speaker National Assembly won the NA-122 by-election held on October 11 past year by 74,525 votes.
Earlier, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq’s counsel Khawaja Haris questioning maintainability of the plea submitted that electoral lists could not be challenged before election tribunal as the issue did not fall under its jurisdiction.
He had alleged that 30,000 votes were shifted from his constituency while Nadra had the record of only 7,000 votes.
However, the PTI leadership maintained that Ayaz Sadiq would again be disqualified due to alleged transfer of votes from NA-122. He stated the ECP act amounted to pre-poll rigging.
He announced challenging the verdict in a court of law. He said the PML-N committed technical rigging during the by-elections. He pleaded the court to dismiss the petition being non-maintainable.
Election Tribunal on Tuesday dismissed a petition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Abdul Aleem Khan against NA-122 by-election results.

Speaking at a press conference soon after the tribunal gave its verdict, Aleem Khan said the decision was “one-sided” and given without listening to the PTI stance.
