‘The X-Files’ Reaches More Than 16 Million on Return
The series, which was scheduled right after Fox’s broadcast of the NFC Championship game on Sunday night, brought in a preliminary viewership of 13.4 million viewers from 10:30 p.m to 11:00 p.m. ET. Sunday nights NFC Championship was about as one-sided as games get, but the telecasts huge audience helped to give the X-Files revival premiere the kind of ratings that probably inspired a massive sigh of relief at Fox. FX’s Zach Galifianakis comedy Baskets opened with a modest 1 million viewers Thursday, while the premiere of FYI’s liquored-up talk show Kocktails with Khloe (Kardashian) claimed 347,000.

Monday’s “The X-Files” and “Lucifer” were the night’s top two shows among adults 18-49.
Those big X-Files premiere ratings were no fluke (man).
And you know what the X-Files performance means, right? Online at the 2016 TCA Winter Press Tour on January 15 that he was waiting to hear from the network that they wanted more episodes.
It was Monday’s #2 program in adults 18-49 and #6 program in total viewers (beneath the aforementioned three shows, “Supergirl”, and “The Bachelor”).
Variety believes “The X-Files” could have gotten more viewers if the game had been a closer match and more dramatic. “I don’t want to speak for everyone, but I would”, he dished.

Fox announced in March that the popular sci-fi drama that ran for nine seasons in the 1990’s would return for a six-episode event series. In an interview with Time in December, the actress said once the commitment was under eight episodes she could then consider coming back. Four more episodes remain in the miniseries, which will now air Monday nights. The Biggest Loser followed with 3.6 million total viewers and a 1.2 demo rating, up 20 percent to match its season high in the demo.
