Trump now bills himself as uniter as Cruz and others attack
Citing that statement, Trump said that Fox is “playing games” and that he will do an event for wounded warriors instead of Thursday’s debate.

The Quinnipiac University poll put Trump slightly ahead of Cruz at 31 to 29 percent of likely Republican participants in the Iowa caucuses.
Though lagging behind Trump nationally, Cruz is locked in a cutthroat race with Trump in Iowa, leading many Republican leaders to grudgingly accept the likelihood that one of the two could be their nominee. Marco Rubio on the campaign trail in Iowa this week, also asked this week whether Trump had repented for his marital infidelities.
“I would like to invite him on your show to participate in a one-on-one debate, between me and Donald – mano-a-mano”, Cruz told radio host Mark Levin in an interview. And I think what this is is a populist candidate that said, “I’m going to fill a void here”, regardless of what he’s done with his past, regardless of how he has people now like Bob Dole who’s an establishment who he says he’s against who basically have endorsed him, and others just like him like Trent Lott who’s not a conservative.
Cruz in recent weeks has battled Trump over the senator’s presidential eligiblity (Cruz was born in Canada to an American mother and Cuban father) and his positions on immigration. Trump’s campaign spokesman later said he definitely will not participate.
In the 2008 caucus, the two lowest-scoring Democratic candidates dropped out of the presidential race within the week, and the Republican pool of candidates decreased from seven to three after a little more than a month.
He also expressed displeasure at a Fox News statement on Monday night saying Trump would have to learn sooner or later that “he doesn’t get to pick the journalists” and that “we’re very surprised he’s willing to show that much fear about being questioned by Megyn Kelly”.
As is so often the case, the latest USA presidential election polls seem to be sending different messages about who’s up and who’s down. “You’re fired”, Cruz said, riffing on Trump’s famous rejoinder from the “The Apprentice”.
Cruz’s own campaign has a new Iowa ad out that hits Trump for having “New York values”. Vander Plaats is head of the faith-based group the Family Leader and a staunch opponent of abortion, and his endorsement was courted heavily by both Cruz and Trump.
He added, “Without me they’d have no ratings!” “Who gives us the best chance of bringing this party together, I know I do”.
Katie Packer, a Republican strategist who is unaligned in the 2016 presidential race but whose super PAC operates a website questioning Trump on various issues, said the businessman’s endorsements are an effort to validate his support among evangelicals.
He dismissed the notion that President Barack Obama might be tipping the scales in favor of Clinton, saying the president was “very generous to me”.

News also spread Tuesday of an emotional moment from a Sanders event the day before, where the candidate dumped his stump speech by giving audience members the mic so they could tell stories of hardship related to health care and minimum wage.
