Reports of a superyacht that sunk mere miles off the coast of Fort Lauderdale in Florida has been circulating the web today.
“We are not sure why it was taking on water”, he said. Fortunately the Coast Guard rescued everyone onboard and there were no injuries, CBS4 was told. “We had choppy seas, high winds, it wasn’t the most favorable weather but at the same time we have some of the most efficient crews when it comes to search and rescue, so they were able to do it successfully”. He says it’s fortunate that the ship was relatively close to shore so Coast Guard could rescue passengers.
These items were taken to the Alsdorf Park boat ramp on Northeast 14th Street in Pompano Beach, according to Lisa Morgan, from Sea Tow. Investigators said those who were on board the yacht only speak Portuguese and said they were from Brazil.
None of the passengers were injured and were all taken to the Coast Guard station in Miami Beach. “Everything was so fast”, Capt. Gabriel Marens said.

“The amount of water it was taking and how quickly the boat sank, really, I don’t think (there’s) much anybody would have been able to do”, Morgan. The Serena III remained underwater late Monday.
