Obama virtually endorses Clinton as Democratic Prez nominee

“So, I applaud that”, Clinton said.

To review the premises of these questions: Clinton doesn’t inspire passionate support, isn’t honest and trustworthy (a perception that consistently shows up in polls) and isn’t as authentic as top rival Sen. “I would love to see us do that, I hope we can”. More than two-thirds of Republicans said in the survey that they expect him to win the party’s nomination.

At a CNN town hall meeting, Sanders argued that his own judgment, not Clinton’s experience, is the most crucial quality for the next commander-in-chief. “We need a candidate who can actually pull us together”.

Bernie Sanders confidently took a detour from campaigning in Iowa to hold events in neighboring Minnesota Tuesday.

Another Arizona-based political observer thought all three – Sanders, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley – were at their best during the town hall forum in Des Moines, Iowa.

As for Obama, it’s pretty clear his choice for an heir is his former secretary of state. Indeed, Sanders in particular has been drawing large, enthusiastic crowds, and he received several loud rounds of applause when he vowed to tax corporations in order to fund a large infrastructure building program. “In fact, I’ve heard from quite a few people my age that they think you’re dishonest, but I’d like to hear from you and why you feel the enthusiasm isn’t there”, the student said. And, based on the other questions, the event might as well have been called the “Chris Cuomo Democrat Lovefest”, as softball after softball was lobbed at the candidates.

Resentment is also fueling their bases, the poll shows, with 69 percent of Sanders voters saying they are dissatisfied with the federal government versus Clinton voters who are much more evenly split – 50 percent are satisfied while 47 percent are not.

But Clinton came in on an uptick, earning praise from President Barack Obama and picking up an endorsement from Iowa’s largest newspaper, the Des Moines Register, which wrote over the weekend that “no other candidate can match the depth or breadth of her knowledge and experience”.

Sanders said that was not enough. “I think Hillary came in with the both privilege and burden of being perceived as the front-runner”, Obama said in an interview with Politico released Monday morning.

Sanders said on CBS’ “Face the Nation” Sunday that the poll “is showing us making huge, huge gains”.
