What We Know: Trump, Cruz closing arguments in Iowa

I know a lot of you are angry that people are on the Trump bandwagon, and you don’t understand it, and you’re ticked off about it. But if you are in Iowa and if you are one of those people, I don’t care what you think of Ted Cruz: He’s right about this.

Cruz launched his campaign at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., last March.

That’s been the take of Cruz and allies who say the confrontational, filibuster-prone Texas U.S. senator is the right tonic for a nation grown weak from compromise.

LESS than week before the first proper votes are cast in the 2016 presidential election campaign, Donald Trump has soared to a new high of 41 per cent, according to a new poll.

A new Quinnipiac poll of Hawkeye State Republicans shows Trump holding a slim 31-29 edge over Cruz. “And he never will, and that’s OK because we got to do something folks because it’s not working”, said Trump, pointing to the crowd and referring to the protestor.

Polls continue to show Cruz sliding behind Donald Trump as the caucuses grow closer.

Media analysts asked whether Fox would leave an empty podium at center stage during Thursday’s event, which is the last GOP debate before the all-important Iowa caucuses.

During the press conference, Trump also announced he was likely to skip Thursday’s GOP debate due to a deepening fight with the Fox News Channel.

“I don’t think he’ll get anything through Congress because everybody hates him”, Trump said of CruzTuesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe“.

As the Sikh raised his banner, Trump waved his hand and said, “Bye. Bye”.

Numerous hundreds of replies urged him to attend the debate; a smaller number supported him skipping it; and some commenters mocked him for being afraid of Kelly.

Cruz was a distant second in that poll, with 19% support.

Trump has said Fox News, who is hosting the debate, is “playing games” and including anchor Megyn Kelly as moderator.

Trump had suggested he might skip the Fox debate earlier in the day, drawing a sarcastic statement from the television network that “the Ayatollah and Putin both intend to treat Donald Trump unfairly when they meet with him if he becomes president”. Ted Cruz demurred, noting that he would remain focused on the issues even though Trump has engaged in personal attacks.

“You shall know them by their fruits”, he said.

The video was posted online Saturday by a YouTube account called “Young Ted Cruz”.

A similar result came Tuesday from a Boston Herald poll, with Trump far ahead at 33 percent, with Cruz at 14 percent and Kasich moving up to 12 percent.

Nearly two-thirds of Republican voters and GOP-leaning independents say they believe businessman Donald Trump will be their presidential nominee and more than 6 in 10 are satisfied with that choice, according to a poll released Tuesday. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio stood at 8 percent, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson at 6 percent, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at 5 percent, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at registered 4 percent while everyone else had 3 percent or less. Trump said, asserting that the ratings will sink if he’s not there.
