For the Panthers, who were playing at home in Charlotte, that win was never in doubt.

Here’s an open thread for you to discuss today’s NFC Championship game between the Carolina Panthers and the Arizona Cardinals. Carolina is favored by four points. When asked if Newton is a unique player to face, Talib added: “Man, super unique”. That’s a trend that should continue Sunday as the Broncos dethrone the reigning Super Bowl champions. Two of their defensive starters – Pro Bowl linebacker Thomas Davis (broken right arm) and safety Roman Harper (eye) – went out in the first half and did not return.

The Carolina Panthers are now Super Bowl bound.

The Panthers (16-1) scored on their first three possessions after scoring on their first five possessions last week against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Panthers pounced on seven Arizona Cardinals turnovers and the gang celebrated on the sidelines during the two-minute warning before the end of their 49-15 romp as “Sweet Caroline” blared over the loudspeakers. They led 24-7 at halftime at Bank of America Stadium and just kept pouring it on. “I think the line will settle in at 4 and stay there until Super Bowl weekend”.

Denver’s No. 1 defense forced turnovers, and Manning didn’t commit any as the Broncos built a 17-9 lead heading into halftime.

The Denver Broncos upset the New England Patriots on Sunday in the AFC Championship game but will head to Super Bowl 50 as the underdogs.

Tonight, the Panthers host the Cardinals in the NFC championship game. It was quite a night for Richardson, who later got to accept the NFC trophy. Newton hit four passes for 35 yards on Carolina’s opening drive, and kicker Graham Gano hit from 45 yards for a 3-0 lead. He had 52 yards in receptions, and he tracked down All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson to prevent a touchdown on an interception return.

And one of his TD passes was an 86-yard catch-and-run by Philly Brown, helped by Rashad Johnson’s botched tackle.

Coach Ron Rivera called the injury a “pretty good bruise” and confirmed that the training staff will evaluate Davis later in the week.

At one point, the Cardinals had turnovers on three consecutive plays: the muff, Palmer’s fumble, and Coleman’s first of two picks.

“This is as low as you can feel”, Palmer said.

The Carolina Panthers season may have a happy ending next week at Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, but for linebacker Thomas Davis, it was almost bittersweet. His path to the end zone was a full of twists and turns, just like the past couple of seasons. The Cars struggled throughout both of their playoff games in getting any pressure on Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and Panthers QB Cam Newton.

The only historical stat you’ll really need: The NFC is 8-4 in Super Bowls played the year of a US presidential election. “He’s just an unbelievable player”, Kubiak said.

And, the quarterback said once again, the Panthers aren’t finished writing their own story. “We wanted to start fast”, Newton said.
