The court sought the response of the Delhi government, NDMC, SDMC, EDMC and DDA by the next date of hearing on February 2.
The directions of the two benches of the high court came on a day when large number of municipal and sanitation workers went on strike to demand regular salaries and payment of arrears and staged protests in various parts of the capital.
Sanitation workers, doctors, teachers, engineers and office staff of the corporations are going on a strike from today and hold a protest at the Jantar Mantar – like they did on January 14. Our arrears are long pending. “Sanitation workers as well as employees of other departments are also participating in the strike”, said Rajendra Mewati, general secretary of the United Front.
Meanwhile, the Delhi government claims that they have already released funds for paying the salaries of MCD employees.

Similar sanitation issues have cropped up across the national capital as aggrieved MCD workers call upon the Delhi government to take congizance of the crisis. Reacting to the development, Delhi minister Kapil Mishra maintained that the city government had cleared its payments. “We have released Rs. 892 crore to the North MCD, Rs. 465 crore to East MCD, and Rs. 668 crore to South MCD”.
