The tragedy of Flint, Michigan, should send a clear message to libertarians and others who continue to claim that “government is the problem” as they continue to labor under the delusion that cities, counties, states, and even the nation would be better off if they were run like businesses.
That will help, but Mayor Karen Weaver says everything included federal funding, hinges on how the state will shoulder much of the financial burden for the water crisis.

RTHeartless, profit-driven corporations like Walmart, Coca-Cola, Pepsi Co., and Nestle have pledged to donate millions of water bottles to the people of Flint, Michigan. So I challenge both & anyone else in the world to match me & DONATE $1,000,000 in bottled water to Flint, Michigan & we want proof, shipping order receipts, bank wire receipts, pictures etc…
Officials at Walmart said in a statement that the water crisis has become personal to them.
DEQ Director Dan Wyant resigned in December after acknowledging the DEQ failed to require the addition of needed corrosion control chemicals to the corrosive Flint River water.

A Republican legislative leader is criticizing Michigan’s attorney general for opening an investigation into Flint’s lead-tainted water, saying the probe should wait until a state task force’s work is done. Given widespread coverage of the Flint water crisis and its ongoing nature, the assertion doesn’t make much plausible sense (nor does it seem likely CPS could have the manpower to engage in such a large undertaking).
