She alleged that Rs 1.90 crore had been given to Chandy’s key aide to set up mega solar projects in Kerala and about Rs 40 lakh had been given to the Personal Assistant of Aryadan.

Chandy said it was “an attempt by Saritha to wriggle out” of the case after the scam broke out.

Meanwhile, Saritha S Nair told media that anyone can question her statements for any contradiction.

Deposing before a single-judge commission inquiring into the scam, accused Saritha Nair said in Kochi that the amount was transacted in two tranches in New Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram. “If he (Chandy) had spoken the truth, why was he not ready to take the polygraph test”, he told reporters at Thiruvananthapuram. It can also be presumed that Saritha is in for a big game and has closed all the doors on the Congress as the chances of it retaining power in Kerala is bleak.

Raja noted that nature of the charges Chandy is facing is “quite serious” and the amount the Chief Minister is accused of accepting mattered “little”. “This is the first time in the state’s history that such corruption allegations have been raised against a CM”, he said. “I was just asking her about that”, Ravi added.

Ms. Saritha said she had met the chief minister on Dec 27, 2012 at Vigyan Bhawan when he was about to leave for the airport after attending a meeting of the National Development Council. “A cheque of Rs2 lakh that she gave for CM’s relief fund itself bounced, I don’t know how she claims to have crores with her. Let me repeat what I told the Solar Commission, she has not benefited a paisa from the government”. “None has doubts that I have done anything wrong”, he said.

Things have been getting worse for Chandy and his friends ever since the solar scam scandal came to the fore in 2013 as the names of Chandy and some of his cabinet colleagues and two Congress MPs found place in the list people having links with the con woman and her Team Solar Energy Company.

Chandy has been struggling hard to get out of the quagmire when Saritha made the most unkindest cut by saying that she and her team were offered full support and cooperation by the chief minister himself.

KPCC President V M Sudheeran said the charges against Chandy were “unbelievable” and nothing but an “Election special”.
