Trump announces event to benefit veterans during Fox debate

US presidential candidate Donald Trump on Wednesday escalated a fight with Fox News, using the word “bimbo” in a derogatory tweet about anchorwoman Megyn Kelly after he dramatically pulled out of a debate only days before the first votes of the 2016 campaign are cast.

As pundits discussed whether his move to sit out Thursday night’s Fox News debate four days before the Iowa caucuses would hurt him or help him, Trump said Wednesday he’d move forward with his own competing event.

“You owe me milkshakes, I’ll take them off the ledger if you consider it”, the FOX News host reminded Trump.

“I’m not going to let our country be taken advantage of”.

Donald Trump has taunted a Fox News anchor a day after pulling out of a televised debate.

O’Reilly then sought to appeal to Trump’s capacity to forgive, reminding the billionaire businessman that he’s a Christian, even if he doesn’t attend church all that often, and that the Bible says to “turn the other cheek”.

Trump announced a rival event to benefit Veteran Organisations in Des Moines exactly at the same time as the debate begins, injecting a sense of chaos into the contest.

The announcement followed a press conference in which Mr Trump dismissed Fox News’ debate moderator, Megyn Kelly, as a “lightweight”, “third-rate reporter” and claimed she had been “toying” with him.

“Capitulating to politicians’ ultimatums about a debate moderator violates all journalistic standards, as do threats, including the one leveled by Trump’s campaign manager Corey Lewandowski toward Megyn Kelly”. I think she’s highly overrated.

O’Reilly – who defended Kelly asking Trump her “war on women” question – said it would be better for Trump to participate so he could take on the moderators. I think she’s a third-rate reporter. “I happen to think presidential campaigns are important”.

The seventh Republican primary debate on Thursday will be missing one podium and, with it, the political pageantry that is Republican frontrunner Donald Trump.

Cruz has also issued “Make Trump Debate Again”, hats – a jab at Trump’s signature “Make America Great Again” campaign signature.

“You can see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever”, he said.

But some Conservative leaders suggest that Trump is taking a risk by skipping Thursday’s primetime affair.

Yes, on Tuesday night while at a rally in Iowa City, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was joined on stage by members of the Iowa football and wrestling teams.

“This election cycle is wacko”, said Tom Webber, a Republican who caucused for Rick Santorum during the last election cycle.

“I believe personally that you want to improve the country”, O’Reilly said.

“If someone did that, didn’t show up at the interview, you know what you’d say?”

This is also not the first time Trump has threatened to boycott a debate. A Quinnipiac University poll published this week showed only 2 percent of likely Iowa Republican caucus-goers are undecided, but a whopping 39 percent said they might change their mind. Marco Rubio said. “We don’t have time for these kinds of distractions”.

But O’Reilly’s pitch fell flat with Trump.

“If Donald Trump is elected president he intends to expand Obamacare”, he said. I was not treated well by fox. they came out with this ridiculous PR statement it was like, drawn up by a child. He said Trump was scared of Kelly, telling supporters that skipping the debate was like refusing a job interview.
