The lawsuit alleges that city and state officials have violated the federal Safe Drinking Water Act.
“EPA has determined the State of MI and the City of Flint’s responses to the drinking water crisis in Flint have been inadequate to protect public health, there are serious, ongoing concerns with delays, lack of adequate transparency and capacity to safely manage the drinking water system”, the EPA said in a statement at the time.
The suit was filed by the Natural Resources Defense Council on behalf of citizens, along with the American Civil Liberties Union of MI, the Concerned Pastors for Social Action and Melissa Mays, a Flint resident.
Governor Rick Snyder and the Mayor of Flint will both provide an update to the ongoing water crisis in Flint on Wednesday. He will report to her as an independent consultant and be paid through private donations.
“Absolutely not”, Republican Gov. Rick Snyder told MSNBC.
The embattled governor announced a series of new actions to address the water crisis, which has spawned two criminal investigations and a federal emergency declaration.
When Virginia Tech professor and water-treatment expert Dr. Marc Edwards is asked the question “Who poisoned Flint, Michigan?” he doesn’t beat around the bush. But little did the residents know that it is more corrosive than its previous supply source and caused lead to leak from age old pipes straight down to the water that residents drank and use every day.
It was back in 2014 when the people of MI use the river water as a source.
Some on campus from Flint said family members can easily go through several cases of water a week cooking, bathing and doing laundry. Replacing the pipes can be very costly, especially if their locations are no longer known, so adding lime and other corrosion inhibitors to community water has often been used as a remedy.
Following in Diddy’s footsteps, The Game has put up a good amount of money towards the Flint, Mich. water crisis.
Activists and environmentalists said the government needs to spend whatever it takes to make sure the water is safe to drink – and complies with federal rules. They charge that Flint residents are victims of “environmental racism” – that is, race and poverty factored into how Flint wasn’t adequately protected and how its water became contaminated with lead, making the tap water undrinkable.
Flint switched from Detroit’s water system in 2014 while under state emergency management and began drawing from the Flint River to save money.

Michigan’s attorney general has named a former prosecutor as special counsel to investigate whether laws were broken during the process that left Flint with lead-tainted water.
