All the usual caveats apply: this is just a trailer, it’s unfair to judge an entire movie based on 1 minute of footage, etc. But so far, Trolls looks… not great.
According to DreamWorks, Trolls tells the story of “overly optimistic Trolls” who fear the “comedically pessimistic Bergens, who are only happy when they have trolls in their stomach”.
Even after today’s teaser, not much is known about what the adventure will entail, which is more created to introduce the colorful balls of fuzz and their respective personalities.
Other Trolls in the movie will be played by Gwen Stefani, James Corden, Russell Brand, Icona Pop, Ronald Funches and Kunal Nayyar.
“I have always envisioned bringing the two worlds of film and music together for one epic event [and] couldn’t be more excited that they will collide in DreamWorks’ Trolls”, Timberlake said in a statement, per the Hollywood Reporter.
No official plot details have been given out, despite the trailer hinting that finding a new home and facing a troll-eating giant are factors. It is directed by Mike Mitchell and Walt Dohrn.
Timberlake will also serve as executive music producer and contribute music to the film.
