70mph winds forecast as Storm Gertrude sweeps in
A yellow warning for snow, ice and rain has also been issued for the majority of Scotland and parts of northern England.

This will bring gales or severe gales across northern Britain, with the Northern Isles likely to experience a period of storm force winds for a time.
Meanwhile, the Road Safety Authority (RSA) is advising all road users today to take extreme care when using the roads as the weather warnings have been issued.
The forecaster issued a report this evening saying coastal areas are experiencing “severe gusts” while rain is heaviest in Atlantic areas.

A yellow rain warning is in place until 10am this morning with up to 40mm expected on hills.
