“Just to be clear: all 102K residents of Flint have been exposed to toxic water, all of Flint’s kids have ingested lead, & 10 ppl have died”, Moore tweeted on another occasion.

National NAACP President and Chief Executive Cornell Brooks is expected to meet with Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder to discuss the crisis in Flint sparked by lead-tainted water.

Snyder told committee members it presents an opportunity to “leverage the resources” each brings.

Democratic Party Chairman Brandon Dillon says Schuette’s appointment of Flood is “incomprehensible”.

“Now we need to figure out … is there a protective barrier” being recoated in the pipes by anti-corrosion chemicals, Creagh said.

State regulators never required that the river water be treated to make it less corrosive, causing lead from plumbing and pipes to leach into the water supply.

The state declared the contaminated water a public health crisis in early October but have yet to replace the lines.

Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder overrode the rights of the people who live in Flint by appointing an “emergency manager” to run the city. The water wasn’t properly treated for corrosion, and lead began leaching from aging pipes into the drinking water.

Majority Republicans favor the law. The city said that as of August 7th, “there has been no disconnection of service for nonpayment”. The complaint says the pipes should be replaced at no cost to customers.

The city’s population of 100,000, including especially vulnerable children, have been struggling to get clean water to drink or even bathe with, for more than one year. It alleges the city is not providing comprehensive, reliable information to identify locations with lead lines and is under-testing homes with a higher risk of lead exposure. But the suit also focuses on problems with the city’s monitoring of lead. “In fact she became concerned about the water issue in Flint which kind of propelled her to want to enter the race and this again is the expectations we have our our graduates”.

The state Senate is expected to approve a $28 million supplemental budget request earmarked for the water crisis.

Snyder’s Flint Water Advisory Task Force said in a letter to Snyder on Friday that the state needs to accelerate its efforts in “re-establishing a reliable, trusted potable water system in Flint”.

In a brief, yet stern, statement – Flint Mayor Karen Weaver challenged the state to step up in the Flint water crisis.

The state’s website says the news conference will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The governor will submit the proposal to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

RTHeartless, profit-driven corporations like Walmart, Coca-Cola, Pepsi Co., and Nestle have pledged to donate millions of water bottles to the people of Flint, Michigan.

“When you have a disproportionate number of black, brown and poor children subjected to elevated lead, that’s a problem that grows up”, Brooks said.

The damage done to the city’s pipes from Flint River water means that lead will continue to contaminate the city’s drinking water until city and state officials stop violating the Safe Drinking Water Act, according to the lawsuit.
