What We Know: Congress to consider help for Flint water
About 30,000 bottles of water were delivered to Flint on Thursday afternoon, compliments of Washtenaw County residents.

In an investigative report from The Detroit News, cities throughout the state such as Grand Rapids, Jackson, Detroit, Saginaw, Muskegon, and Holland have seen higher cases of lead in children as far back as 2013.
To save money, the city began temporarily getting its drinking water from the Flint River and treating it in the city water treatment plant while it waited for a new water pipeline to Lake Huron to be finished. The river had a reputation for nastiness, and after the April 2014 switch, …
Rick Snyder on Friday signed into law $28 million in emergency funding to address Flint’s lead-contaminated water. But a top GOP leader raised doubts about a pricey federal response to the local crisis, suggesting the measure won’t be easily embraced by Republicans who control Congress.
The U.S. Senate is considering an emergency funding bill. He declared a state of emergency on January 5, 2016 – about a year after the notice was sent out.
In wake of the Flint water crisis, Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder admitted he had no immediate plans to replace the corroded lead pipes responsible for transporting polluted water to community residents.
“Within a few weeks of this notice, the state issued a $2 million grant to Flint to help with water system infrastructure improvements”. Gary Peters said at a news conference at the Capitol.
There’s room for whatever else comes in, according to Michigan State Police Lt. Dave Kaiser: The state has a 150,000 square-foot warehouse and additional buildings to stash supplies.
There is plenty of blame to go around, but this not a Republican scandal and should not be politicized.
The series of emails mention concern over poor water quality in Flint and contains a facility notification about the delivery of the coolers from the Department of Technology, Management and Budget.
The Safe Drinking Water Act, which was passed in 1974, orders United States water utilities to rigorously test and treat their drinking water for contaminants. “The state broke it. They need to fix it”. Despite complaints from citizens that something was wrong with the water, most notably the smell and color, officials told citizens that the water was safe to drink.
“It was a huge success and huge thanks to WCC for the trailer and then Michael K Trucking, who called up and volunteered one of his semis, which was huge”.
“We are asking a federal court to step in because the people of Flint simply can not rely on the same government agencies that oversaw the destruction of its infrastructure and contamination of its water to address this crisis”, said Dimple Chaudhary, a senior attorney with the Natural Resources Defence Council (NRDC).
