Pelosi praises Bernie Sanders for energizing young voters

With just four days to go until the Iowa caucuses, Donald Trump has pulled ahead of Ted Cruz with a seven point lead among likely Iowa GOP caucus-goers, while Hillary Clinton remains just three points in front of Bernie Sanders on the Democratic side, according to a trio of new NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist polls.

Clinton’s push for more debates signals her deficit in New Hampshire against Sanders, who has represented neighboring Vermont in Congress for more than two decades.

“As long as Washington is bought and paid for, we can’t build an economy that works for people”, the narrator says.

The South Carolina poll, also conducted January 17-23 surveyed 718 likely Republican primary voters and 446 likely Democratic primary voters.

For months, O’Malley and some of Sanders’ supporters have claimed that the national committee is rigging the schedule to benefit Clinton, scheduling fewer debates to avoid undermining her national lead in the polls. “It’s a cynical political ploy”.

Sanders addressed the chatter about the Politico interview Wednesday, denying that the president was trying to turn the race in Clinton’s favor. Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver said the campaign reminded staffers it was inappropriate “and that they should not do it again”.

It is customary for presidential candidates to make public their health records during the campaign season.

“You are in overall very good health and active in your professional work, and recreational lifestyle without limitation”, wrote Sanders’ doctor Brian Monahan, the attending physician of the U.S. Congress. He wrote that he has treated Sanders for 26 years. He underwent hernia surgery earlier this year but is in good health, his doctor said.

Sanders, who would be 75 by Election Day, would be the oldest person ever elected president.

Clinton said she wanted DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz to approve the debate and for Sanders to join her. But both have resisted.
