Louis van Gaal Didn’t Offer To Quit Man Utd Post

According to some media, Van Gaal faces a crunch meeting with United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward on Tuesday amid supporter anger over the 1-0 defeat by Southampton.

The Guardian are among many of Tuesday’s newspapers reporting that Van Gaal offered to resign immediately following that defeat, their sixth of the league season.

During those discussions it was alleged that Van Gaal offered his resignation – but the club have dismissed those suggestions, with the 64-year-old returning to work on Tuesday.

“I’m very disappointed that I can not reach the expectations of the fans. I don’t think we have entertained the fans, so they can be very angry”.

Manchester United, who have managed to win just two of their last 10 league games, now find themselves fifth in the standings with 37 points from 23 games, 10 adrift of leaders Leicester City.

In the past, Van Gaal was more adamant about turning things around at the club and not worrying about his future, but this new statement is clearly a change in stance for the coach.

Stats released this evening revealed that Manchester United have had fewer shots on target at home this season than any other side in the top four divisions in England.

However, MEN Sport has been told that Van Gaal didn’t offer to go on this latest occasion.

They have won just three of their last 13 matches in all competitions and haven’t scored in the first half of a match at Old Trafford since September.

But with boos ringing out around Old Trafford it seems the fans’ patience is finally beginning to fade.

And it would appear, with only a few days left before deadline, there has been little progress made in any attempts to boost the squad with further recruits in the current transfer window.
