After waking from the surgery, Trevor was overjoyed, as you can see in the video.
“I’ve waited so long. I can breathe again”, Sullivan exclaimed.
Trevor’s family and are now trying to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation. Last November, Trevor Sullivan was admitted to the hospital to undergo surgery to replace his entire heart.
Trevor survived the surgery, and when he woke up, his first few words were caught on tape. “I’ve never felt so good”. It has been viewed more than 1.5 million times, shared thousands of times and garnered hundreds of comments.
“I really like the video, actually”, Trevor Sullivan told ABC News. The situation quickly turned dire as the 14-year-old was diagnosed with severe heart failure. A GoFundMe page was set up to help pay for the transplant and Sullivan was placed on the waiting list for a new heart.
Last February, Trevor told his family he wasn’t feeling well.
Eight months later a donor organ was found and he was taken to CS Motts Children’s Hospital at the University of MI.
Sullivan’s family recorded the moments after the teen awoke.
“We know that it was a younger person it came from, with good muscle tissue, a strong heart”, he said.

Trevor is still convalescing at home, but his parents hope he is able to return to Birmingham’s Groves High School in March.
