Before Dion left the service with her family, she looked up toward the Notre-Dame Basilica’s towers, made a sign of the cross and kissed the tips of her fingers, raising them to the sky.

Angélil died January 14, two days before his 74th birthday, after living with throat cancer for years.

Celine Dion and her husband Rene are both two people beloved by Canada and the world and many are saddened by his death.

A viewing will be held at Montreal’s Notre-Dame Basilica, with members of the public able to pay tribute between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. He was so struck by her voice that he signed her to an exclusive management contract – mortgaging his house to finance her debut album. Rene-Charles wore a dark suit and his mother, Celine, 47, wore a black fur coat and a customary black veil over her face.

The “Power of Love” singer admitted previous year she was doing her best to stay strong as her spouse’s health declined for the sake of her family. “The idea of leaving it unfinished would have hurt him terribly”. I have to show myself, my husband and my kids, and I am strong and we’re okay.

Couillard announced the flag at the legislature would fly at half-mast Friday.

The pair met when Dion’s singing career was in its infancy and Angelil become her mentor, having predicted she would become a world star.

She did not speak publicly at the funeral, instead leaving her and Angélil’s eldest son, René-Charles, to deliver a touching eulogy.

Celine will host a Celebration of Life gathering February 3 at the Colosseum in Caesars Palace, where she plans to resume her residency February 23 in keeping with the words she wrote on the card: I “have to continue without him – for him”.
