The dead woman was identified as 59-year-old Linda Marie Smith, of Arcadia, Florida. Police say the monkeys were contained in carriers when they arrived and not running free.
The incident occurred at the Budget Inn at 14000 Tamiami Trail. He received medical attention and is being questioned.
Authorities discovered the Capuchin monkeys in crates, the North Port police said in a statement.
However, the cause of death was not immediately clear and the medical examiner will soon conduct a full autopsy, a process that will take some time, police said.
Both monkeys have been taken to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission in good health.

A note was also found in the room, though police have not revealed what this said. Police also didn’t discuss what was said in the note and did not disclose its message.
