John Scott, fan vote as captain, gets MVP at All-Star Game

Scott, who was a member of the Arizona Coyotes during voting, was traded to the Montreal Canadiens and then to the AHL team the St. John’s IceCaps when he was announced as the victor and the Captain of the Pacific Division.

The fans were chanting “M-V-P!” whenever Scott was on the ice during the championship game, and although the league didn’t list him as a candidate, the fans voted him as the write-in MVP anyway.

After last year’s disaster at the NHL All Star Game in Columbus, Ohio, there had to be changes according to the NHL brass.

The NHL All-Star Game on Sunday at Bridgestone Arena was a gimmick, but a gimmick that worked because there was no longer a pretense that the players were participating in anything that resembled a real hockey game. He’s not a good player, but he was certainly the most valuable despite the NHL’s previous behavior. “It’s insane. You can’t make that stuff up”.

The format was a one-year agreement between the NHL and NHL Players’ Association, so now we’ll await how the players want to proceed.

While speaking with NBC’s Pierre McGuire after the game, he was hoisted into the air by Burns and Pavelski, among others.

“I think it (was) the best possible outcome, we had a good weekend, everyone had fun and we ended up winning so it was great”.

“Originally I thought it was a great idea”, said Tyler Seguin, “and now that I’ve played in it, I think it should be like this from here on out”.

After the game, some Pacific players picked up Scott and put him on their shoulders for a hero’s salute. He returns to Newfoundland in Canada with lots of prizes after fans took it upon themselves to vote for Scott over the three finalists offered by the league’s hockey operations – Luongo, Calgary forward Johnny Gaudreau or Edmonton forward Taylor Hall.

Scott scored the two goals in the second 3-on-3 mini-game of the All-Star event that featured the Central and Pacific Divisions squaring off. Scott had scored only five goals in a career that spanned portions of nine seasons and totaled 285 games.

A late addition to the weekend, Neal reiterated his affection for Preds fans and the city of Nashville embracing him since his arrival in the summer of 2014.

Besides his share of the $1 million for the winners, which comes out to about $90,000, Scott also won a vehicle.

“Hockey is definitely not an individual sport”, Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty said.

“What a moment”, Islanders forward John Tavares said of Scott’s first goal.

“I’m so amazed”, she said. Perry ripped a wrister by Tampa Bay goalie Ben Bishop at 13:22 off a pass by Vancouver left winger Daniel Sedin.

The Panthers advanced to the championship period – the All-Star Game this year was broken up into three 20-minute periods, with the league broken up into its four divisions – by winning the opener 4-3 over the Metropolitan Division.

It has always been hard to find a compelling format for the All-Star Game, given that players are mostly unwilling to hit and uninterested in defense, given the situation.

John Scott scored two goals in the first round of the NHL all-star game pacing the Pacific division in a 9-6 victory over the Central all-stars
