Hughley probably thought he had a reasoned approach to his opposition to Jenner’s receiving the award, but his words betray the very insensitivity that Caitlyn decried in her speech.
Despite already receiving her award, controversy continues to hound Caitlyn and the decision to give her the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2015 ESPYs. Caught by TMZ’s camera in New York last July 17, Hughley said that Jenner is still Bruce “in a dress” and does not deserve the award.
