Sanders has a new ad blasting Goldman Sachs – and by extension Clinton, who collected speaking fees from the giant Wall Street bank. Google searches confirm that frontrunner Trump was on the minds of many, even if he was busy staging his own rally down the road.
In the western Iowa city of Council Bluffs, Trump brought his wife and daughter on stage and implored Republicans to pick him, noting that Iowa’s 2008 winner, Mike Huckabee, and 2012 victor Rick Santorum both ultimately failed to win the Republican nomination.

“This is the lie that Ted’s campaign is built on”, Rubio said, highlighting Cruz’s previous shifts on immigration. “Are you afraid of snow?”
A snowfall forecast to start tonight appeared more likely to hinder the presidential contenders in their rush out of Iowa – and on to New Hampshire – than the voters.
In the Democratic race, Sanders continues to lead Hillary Clinton by a wide margin, 57% to 34% in the new poll.
Rubio said, in an appearance on the same program immediately following Cruz (the two hugged, according to moderator Chuck Todd, as they crossed paths) that he was now advocating “securing the border” before any reform.
A strong showing will propel him into New Hampshire and SC, while a weaker one could hobble his chances, underscoring his risky gamble of not focusing on one early nominating state. But, he added, “It’s very hard to compete with the greatest show on earth and the greatest ground game in Iowa history”. Marco Rubio, who’s hoping to emerge as the mainstream consensus candidate and take the fight to Cruz and Trump.
J. Ann Seizer, pollster for the Iowa Poll, says that it is still anyone’s race. Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley is at 3% among likely caucus-goers. The mailer refers to a “voting violation” and grades the recipient’s voting history and that of several neighbors, citing public records.
The tone of the flier, however, is tamer than the one sent by the Cruz campaign.
Trump said Friday that he did make Fox a final offer, asking the network to donate $5 million to a veteran’s charity in return for his participation.
Cruz brushed off the fuss. “And I was just told that ours went up because of what we did last night”.
