Clinton Campaign Agrees to 4 More Debates

But the issue has taken on new urgency in recent days as the two fight in an increasingly tight battle for the party’s nomination. The statement comes after the Clinton and Sanders’ campaigns traded testy statements about plans for Thursday’s debate in New Hampshire and three more during the spring.

Hillary Clinton’s campaign is calling for a Democratic debate in Flint as the city copes with a lead-contaminated water crisis.

The DNC said it will sanction Thursday’s debate, as well as three additional debates in the following months, but will wait until after the Iowa caucuses Monday to iron out the details.

Both campaigns have already agreed to participate in an as-of-now unsanctioned February 4th debate in New Hampshire to be hosted by MSNBC and the Union Ledger, which if held would make up one of the four new debates. Some have accused Schultz and the DNC of designing the debate schedule to give Clinton an advantage, though they have regularly rejected that assumption, and Schultz has maintained the somewhat dubious claim that the schedule was instead set to “maximize” the candidates’ exposure. “And I’m not going to politicize that issue”.

Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign has said it raised more than United States dollars 20 million in January, mostly from small donors, in what it called a “powerful demonstration” of grassroots support.

“The Clinton campaign, after not accepting MI, now says they want it. We are pleased to do it on March 3 before the MI primary provided the Clinton campaign will agree to Brooklyn, New York, on April 14”, Jeff Weaver, Sanders’ campaign manager said in a statement.
