The fire remains under investigation to determine the origin and cause, he said. Five adults who were co-workers at a local restaurant were killed Sunday after a fire started in the basement of a suburban Detroit home, authorities said.

Five people were found dead in a house on Mystic Forest Drive in Novi Sunday morning.
“We watched. We couldn’t do much of anything”, said Kilar about the scene, as reported by Detroit News, “This is a first for us in the 18 years we’ve been here”. The responders tried unsuccessfully to revive two of the victims.
David Molloy says the victims worked at a Chinese restaurant.
It’s not clear whether any of the victims were related, or how they were connected to the home.
Officials said the medical examiner is expected to conduct autopsies on the victims Monday.
The basement was heavily damaged by fire, while the rest of the house sustained heavy smoke damage.
