Even though it may be a long way to go before we actually see Lorelai and Rory on the screen again, curiously enough, Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s lord of content, only said he’s not talking openly about it because he wants everything to be clearly tied up before making a formal announcement.

All the original cast are set to return, including Alexis Bledel as Rory Gilmore, plus regular cast members Scott Patterson, Kelly Bishop, Sean Gunn and Keiko Agena.
On its Twitter, Netflix announced that not only is “Gilmore Girls” coming back, writer Amy Sherman-Palladino as well as main stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel have reprised their roles.
While Netflix is not commenting on the structure of the show or the episodic order, sources tell Variety the revival will be comprised of four separate 90-minute installments, rather than a typical television series, as previously reported.
“Gilmore Girls” is officially returning. I’ve also got my fingers crossed for Liza Weil. While Patterson shared a photo of himself and one of the creators recently captioning it with an apparent tease, “So fun celebrating the original Gilmore Girl BDay!”
“I CAN NOW CONFIRM: it’s time for me, and this jacket I stole in 2007, to return to work”.
Graham also expressed her excitement to do tapings for the show noting that she has checked her scripts right away when she received them.
The revival gives Sherman-Palladino, who left the series before its final season as a result of a contract dispute, the chance to close a drama whose popularity had much to do with her singular voice.
It remains unclear for now just how this “Gilmore Girls” revival will be called or when it will be ready to hit Netflix, but the cat’s out of the bag now.

It’s unclear whether Melissa McCarthy (Sookie) will make an appearance. “It’s always a bummer when you don’t get to end it”, Amy said. One name would be definitely missed is Edward Herrmann who played the father and grandfather of the titular characters of the show.
