“You want to put your finger on why the American people are so frustrated?” “Are you afraid of snow?”
Iowa’s secretary of state on Saturday blasted Ted Cruz’s campaign over a controversial mailer that aims to drive voters to the polls for Monday’s caucuses by claiming they have committed “violations”. Still, there was every reason for candidates to be urgent about turnout in a contest being fought down to the wire in both parties. Ted Cruz in what is likely to be the final major poll before the Iowa caucuses, while Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are virtually tied. Rubio said the ad blitz was a sign Cruz, after months of cruising to the top of the heap, was starting to sweat. “Amnesty. The Republican Obama”.
“Rubio betrayed our trust”, the Cruz commercial says. “Anger alone will not be enough, and that’s why you must make the right choice”.
But the RNC says a new rule adopted at the 2012 national convention requires states to bind their delegates based on the outcome of presidential primaries and caucuses.
On the campaign tail, Sanders has been calling for a political revolution and promised to change the way politics work.
In the 2008 caucus, the two lowest-scoring Democratic candidates dropped out of the presidential race within the week, and the Republican pool of candidates decreased from seven to three after a little more than a month.
“There’s no question we are feeling some wind at our back”, Harris told The Associated Press.
“Don’t tell the Sanders campaign!” he added with a chuckle. On ABC’s “This Week”, she said, “I feel vetted”.
“You can say it didn’t have enough votes but if he felt that strongly, it is his vote and his duty to the people of Texas to get to DC to vote”, said Dean Millius, a 52-year-old from Dubuque who will caucus for Trump.
The NBC/WSJ/Marist survey of 450 likely Iowa Republican caucus-goers was conducted January 24th through January 26th and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.6 percentage points. “If the Republicans want to use this for political purposes, that’s their decision, but I’m going to keep talking about what the voters in Iowa keep talking to me about”. But Sanders has raised the issue of the large speaking fees and campaign donations that Clinton has received from leading financial firms and other corporations.
Cruz brushed off the fuss.
“I just have to point out that the timing and some of the leaks that have led up to it are concerning”, Clinton said on ABC’s “This Week”.
