Hillary Clinton Struggles to Defend E-mail Flip-Flop
“They are running ads against me right here in Iowa”, said Hillary Clinton, according to Variety, before promising that she’ll do better than Sanders and O’Malley when it comes to implementing new regulations on “shadow” banking.

It is Clinton’s inept attempts to dismiss serious questions as being politically motivated, as well as her many differing defenses for doing something that was plainly wrong, that are creating serious cracks in her bid to win the Democratic nomination and succeed Barack Obama as president of the United States.
Clinton said the “leaks” from the investigation are “concerning”. “And I still feel very confident about the organization and the message that my campaign is putting out”.
Clinton and the State Department also claimed the vast majority of her emails were preserved properly for archiving because she corresponded mainly with government accounts. “She is a world class change-maker”, President Clinton said.
“If you stand up for me, I will stand up for you into this campaign and in the White House”, she said. That arrangement had the effect of illegally shielding her communications from scrutiny by the public and Congress for almost six years. “Even today – ooh, the emails!…There’s no new information on that story, but if you listen to NBC, they’re all after the drama”.
“I have a record of working with Republicans”, she said. The State Department has confirmed that. That’s why there has been a great efforts made to erase the distinction between whether something was “marked” classified or not, on the logic that most everything a secretary of state says is, by definition, sensitive enough to be classified. But without classification markings, that may have been hard, especially if the information was publicly available.
Clinton’s rival Sanders briefly raised the issue in a separate appearance on ABC but then – as in an early Democratic debate – declined to pile on. Bernie Sanders, has stayed away from it. Sanders has stressed that he wants to focus on issues like income inequality and not resort to personal attacks.
An FBI probe of the security of Clinton’s email set-up continues, with Republicans increasingly insisting that the Justice Department take legal action against Clinton for mishandling classified information.
GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS, “THIS WEEK” MODERATOR: You have said many times that the e-mails were not marked classified. “I understand that. That’s the way they are”.
The report was released on Monday morning – the day of the Iowa caucuses – by the conservative network Fox News.
The chief super PAC helping Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio raised more than $30 million past year, half of it in the last six months.
Kirby said the emails were not marked “top secret” at the time they were sent, but that they were deemed highly classified at the request of intelligence officials. The information, the State Department said, was so secret that those emails would never be released to the public.

The AP reported last August that one focused on a forwarded news article about the CIA’s classified us drone program. “But at the time, there were none”. It also surfaced just over a week since it was revealed that Clinton’s server contained “special access programme” or SAP. Independent experts say it’s unlikely Clinton will be charged with wrongdoing, based on details that have surfaced so far and the lack of indications she meant to break laws.
