But his greatest challenge arises when Baird Whitlock (Clooney), a famous actor slated to appear in a new prestige picture entitled Hail Caesar, is kidnapped for ransom by a mysterious group calling themselves The Future. Tatum shows off his moves and his voice while talking about his character, Burt Gurney.

“Burt is the kind of an actor who has an outfit for everything”, Tatum said in a featurette posted at People Magazine’s website. “He has his eating-dinner outfit, his soul lives in his hair”. And as for his dancing… well, let’s just say we got our eyeful in “Step Up”.

Burt’s big musical number, “No Dames”, required Tatum to brush up on his tap dancing – and to sing for the first time ever on camera.

“I had to do flips and pull-ups, that stuff”, he adds. I think he’s kind of a moron. We’ll see how it all comes together when Hail, Caesar! opens this Friday, February 5th.
