China’s Xiaomi Phones On Sale In The US For The First Time

The company says it plans to bring its devices to America and other Western countries at some point in the future, but today US Mobile revealed that it will be importing Xiaomi and Meizu phones to the US for use on its network (which runs on T-Mobile).

Chinese smartphone makers Xiaomi and Meizu have been in the headlines a lot over the past few years for their high-quality, low-priced hardware.

Phonemaker Xiaomi is winning big in the phone world: it became the largest phone seller in China, the world’s largest market.

While we won’t delve deeply into the plans US Mobile offers, they will provide service and support for smartphones from Meizu and Xiaomi. However, Xioami has told International Business Times that it has nothing to do with the effort. Xiaomi plans to acquire a sizable market share in the rapidly expanding smartphone market in the Middle East and North Africa.

While Xiaomi has an online store that caters to the US market, it only sells accessories through the storefront, with no mention of when phones will be available for purchase.

Meizu’s m2 Note smartphone comes with a price tag of about $149, while Xiaomi’s Mi 3 costs about $139. We would not expect the Xiaomi and Meizu handsets to return to the carrier’s website anytime soon, but we’ll see how the story develops.

Xiaomi phones are now on sale in the US thanks to carrier US Mobile.
