Wenger out to settle a score as Arsenal take on Southampton

Arsene Wenger admits that the latest injury suffered by Tomas Rosicky has left everyone at Arsenal confused.

Arsenal now have forward Sanchez back from injury and he may make his first start for the club in the league for two months, after scoring and getting an assist as Arsenal progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup at the expense of Burnley.

Wenger said his team simply wasn’t up for the fight on that day, which came after a rousing 2-1 home win over Manchester City that established Arsenal as a firm title contender. When he got injured, you could see signs of fatigue. “We are still in three competitions so we try to get a team out that has a chance to pass the round”.

“I think the team has a good mentality, a good level of humility, and a good togetherness. He said: ‘I stayed on, because you couldn’t change anymore'”.

If it is as bad as he fears, then this will surely have been Tomas’ last appearance for the Gunners, and he will be even more devastated at missing the Euros in the summer for his country.

“He’s such a good player but his career has been disrupted by so many injuries”.

Arsenal like to control the game in the opponent’s half but may find success playing deep, drawing Southampton in and countering them as their visitors are weak on the break. “Physically you can cope with it”.

“I’m 99% sure we will not be doing any business”.

“Training with the team at Melwood really helps us because every day we’re around the first team and they give us the boost”, Brannagan told Liverpool’s official website.

“I thought there would be much more activity but finally it has been quite and the fact we are all here means it is still quiet”. His movement was good, he had a high work-rate.

Wenger believes that his side have moved on from the defeat despite a run of form that has seen them claim just two wins in the five matches since. “They’re a team who have some quality players”, Wenger said, listing the likes of Dusan Tadic, Sadio Mane and Victor Wanyama. As such, they will look to keep pace with Leicester and Manchester City at the top of the table.

When asked if the £4million spent on the Englishman was one of the best deals of the transfer window, Wenger replied: “Yes”.

The spotlight will be on Van Gaal, however, and Rooney is hoping that he can take the heat off his Dutch manager when they face a Stoke side managed by former United striker Mark Hughes.
