First Avatar sequel to start shooting in NZ this April

Although considering it’s been seven years since the first Avatar came out, it’s hard to say whether audience interest will still actually, y’know, exist – be it the number one box office hit of all time or not.

Now we learn that The Wolverine 3 is likely to start shooting at the end of April, with locations to include New Mexico and New Orleans.

In related news, the site has also listed production updates for several other highly-anticipated films. Mark Wahlberg is set to reprise his role in the sequel which is yet to have a release date.

However, according to Inquisitr, the December 2017 release date for Avatar 2 might change further.

Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington are about to repeat their roles in the film sequel, including Sigourney Weaver, although details about their roles have not really been elaborated as of now.

The recently-delayed Avatar 2 will also begin shooting in April, just around Tax Day, with production taking place once again in New Zealand.

Alien: Covenant – Production begins in April 2016 in Sydney, Australia. The Universal Pictures sequel Fifty Shades Darker will start production later this month in Vancouver, with Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan returning as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in Alien with Alien: Covenant, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction.

Finally, Transformers 5 will reportedly begin production this May though no locations have been confirmed. Michael Fassbender is expected to be the only returning cast member from Prometheus with the film set to land in theatres on 6 October, 2017. The expected release date for Wolverine 3 is March 3 next year. Paramount’s Ghost in the Shell starring Scarlett Johansson will also start shooting this month in locations such as New Zealand, Hong Kong, Macau and Shanghai, China. Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford are set to star under the direction of Denis Villeneuve.
