Terry, 35, informed reporters after Chelsea‘s 5-1 victory over MK Dons in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday that the club had declined to offer him an extension to his current contract that expires in the summer, adding that he will look to join a team outside the Premier League.

Chelsea captain John Terry’s announcement that he is set to be released at the end of the season shocked many in the football world who expected him to see out his career at Stamford Bridge.
Such comments suggest Terry could be on his way to the MLS or the Chinese Super League, assuming he ends up leaving Chelsea, who have said they could still offer Terry a new deal.
Chelsea’s interim manager Guus Hiddink has said that John Terry may remain with the club beyond the end of the season.
“It was a bit surprising, but he’s completely entitled to do so when his contract is expiring”, said Hiddink, speaking ahead of Wednesday’s Premier League clash at Watford.
The England global, a Champions League and Premier League victor with Chelsea since arriving from Bolton in 2012, fears his sudden exile will damage his chances of featuring at Euro 2016 and could force him to take the unwanted step of considering joining a club who can satisfy his desire for first-team action.
“There is no specific decision made yet, you have to see the progress that is made in the transition of the management as well. I was in last week before the Arsenal game and it’s not going to be extended”, Terry explained, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
“It’s my last run in the FA Cup so I want to make it a good one”, said Terry after the game. My performance isn’t going to change, the way I train, what I give for the club.
“Obviously I want to be at the club”.

High on Chelsea’s future agenda will be the appointment of a new manager. “I thought there would be much more activity but finally it has been quite and the fact we are all here means it is still quiet”.
The 2000/01 season was when Terry carved out a regular role at Chelsea, making 23 starts on his way to being voted player of the season. When you lose these kind of players, you have to replace them but I don’t know how John can be replaced.

He was even substituted at half-time during a defeat at Premier League rivals Manchester City in August.
