“Since she will take over as chief minister of the state at a crucial time, there could be a meeting between the prime minister and Mehbooba Mufti and also with Amit Shah”, a BJP leader told IANS.

While the PDP has sought assurances from the Centre on a host of issues, the BJP remains tight lipped on the developments.
“The Centre needs to create an environment to infuse confidence, and unless that happens, we can not move forward”, she said while speaking to media for the first time after her father and former chief minister, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed’s death. “I don’t have that vision which Mufti saheb had, [and] neither do I have the experience”. It is about what we tell the people about fulfilling Mufti Sahab s vision.
Meanwhile PDP and BJP leaders will be meeting the Governor here this evening. But that, too, would be subject to centrifugal forces the PDP-BJP alliance is subject to.
The BJP core group earlier met in Jammu this morning and discussed the issues amongst themselves. While there have been several flashpoints in the PDP-BJP relationship so far – the release of jailed separatist Masarat Alam Bhatt, differences over flood relief from the Centre, the debate on the beef ban and the revived controversy over the state flag – they have few real choices other than working together.
He said, “it is not about courtesies or personal conduct but about the issues that we feel are necessary to be addressed for the betterment of the people of the state and the primary need of reposing trust in the people of the state”.
Replying to queries on Mehbooba Mufti’s concerns and demands on the issue of implementation of Agenda of Alliance, he said, “No condition has come to us, nobody has discussed anything with us till now”.
Sources in the PDP told IANS that Mehbooba Mufti is expected to convey to the BJP leader her strong reservations about heading the PDP-BJP alliance government in the state. Mufti, who is Sayeed’s daughter, said, “I did not join hands with [Prime Minister Narendra] Modi”. She also said the PDP was not disinclined to form the government, but would not do it unless she gets “clear-cut and concrete” assurances from its alliance partner. “The adamancy is from the PDP”, he said.

Mahbooba’s actions stem from the attempt to quell dissidence within her party led by Tariq Karra Lok Sabha MP who has found support from a section of the PDP leadership including a few former Cabinet ministers.

While the BJP’s condition device leader Lay Pal Sharma will call on him Mehbooba Mufti was planned to meet up the Governor.
