Protesting Sanitation workers also threw garbage around the residence of Manish Sisodia.
Their demands include regular salary, payment of arrears, regularisation of contractual employees and cashless health cards.
As sanitation workers, engineers, doctors, nurses and teachers protested for the sixth day, he added, “The employees on strike are citizens of Delhi”.
All the three wings of the MCD – South, East and North – are controlled by the BJP, the AAP’s main rival in Delhi. Holding both Delhi government and MCD responsible for crisis, Congress workers labelled Kejriwal’s tenure as the darkest period in the history of Delhi. The civic body said the workers were being paid timely salaries every month and there was no salary-related problems.
Stepping up the attack, workers also warned the government not to clean roads and threatened them with “serious repercussions”.
“He should go to a mental hospital instead of naturopathy”, north Delhi mayor Ravinder Gupta said, taking a dig at the chief minister’s medical trip to Bengaluru.
Taking part in the drive in his Patparganj Assembly constituency, Sisodia said the PWD is working “round-the- clock” in each city ward to ensure cleanliness.
“The Delhi government’s apathetic attitude is causing inconvenience to residents”. If the Delhi Government has paid us, then they should show it to us.
Earlier in the day the striking employees of the three MCDs had dumped garbage outside the residence of Transport Minister Gopal Rai.
He said the Delhi High Court had directed the police to provide security and extra labourers had been deployed with the trucks.
