Newton wants black QB issue put away for good

Speculation has been swirling in recent weeks regarding Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning’s future. But Denver got by during his absence with a little help from backup-turned-starter Brock Osweiler.

“I don’t even want to touch on the topic of black quarterback, because I think this game is bigger than black, white or even green”, Newton said from the team hotel. “I think we limit ourselves when we just label ourselves just black this, that…”

The Broncos were not scheduled to practice Tuesday, giving players who were shaken up in Monday’s minor accident involving the team buses an extra day to recover after complaining of soreness and headaches.

Newton said on Tuesday he wanted to bring awareness “because of that”.

Newton will be the sixth black quarterback to start a Super Bowl.

“I’ve said numerous times that I play to have a stage that people will listen to, and I pray to God that I do right by my influence”, Newton said.

Despite their dominating defense, the Broncos will face an uphill battle when they face the dual-threat quarterback. But the defensive lineman has never before played in the Super Bowl, so the former Oregon State standout appreciates what it takes to get here.

Newton has referred to his race throughout the season.

Manning has 21 career rushing touchdowns including the postseason. “It’s just a tremendous honor to be even mentioned and affiliated with the face of the league, but yet I think I have bigger fish to fry on Sunday, and then we’ll worry about the rest of the eight to 10 years after that”.

“Well, I don’t run any touchdowns for one thing”, Manning said, via the Denver Post. It’s garbage. I could give you a long list of other words for it. I can guarantee this investigation, what it will find is an absolute big, fat nothing.
