Nintendo Drops Hint Suggesting Renewed Interest in Virtual Reality
The company that loves to change the game with new technologies has been strangely quiet on the VR front. Since that announcement, we’ve been left guessing about a project Nintendo has only said is “the new hardware system with a brand-new concept”.

Of course, Nintendo making games on mobile is a risk as well, but it seems well calculated, as Nintendo limits their involvement to five games, and plans to use this to push their own platforms.
With Sony pushing the PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift and HTC going head-to-head for PC gamer’s attention, virtual reality seems like it’s about to explode.
During Nintendo’s financial report, where Nintendo’s investors and analysts come together to review the quarter and reveal their future plans, it was announced that the Wii U saw a steady amount of growth in sales between April and December 2015. The company revealed to those in attendance that they are looking into VR, though sadly we have no news beyond that.
What do you think Nintendo should do when it comes to mobile and VR? Nintendo could be another potential pioneer in reacting to the VR fanfare, predicted to eventually reach a $120 billion market share.
With fans waiting for the much anticipated release of the Nintendo NX, efforts have been done to predict the game console’s launch date. That suggests the core of NX has been focused in a different direction, such as the one hinted at by an entirely odd rounded touchscreen controller patent.

During a recent earnings call, Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima said that he feels VR is “interesting technology”. For now, though, it’s best not to expect an imminent, splashy VR hardware revolution from a company that’s merely started “looking into” the space.
