Melissa McCarthy: No one invited me back to ‘Gilmore Girls’

The last season of Gilmore Girls was considered an unauthentic send-off for the show, as Sherman-Palladino was not involved on Season 7. “If Melissa is available and has an afternoon free, I’ll write her a scene”.

Sadly, fans would only have to imagine a sexier Sookie as Melissa McCarthy would have unveiled her successful weight loss results on the “Gilmore Girls” revival on Netflix. “That’s the way we left it”.

McCarthy’s character often caught things on fire in her kitchen and cared for the two Gilmore Girls when they were down.

She was must have been amazed that the fans must really want this show for them to clamor for its return.

The New York Daily News reports further that the four episodes, which are 90-minutes in length each, will not likely see McCarthy because of the “Ghostbusters” star’s busy schedule. With numerous major players deciding to, once again, take part in Stars Hollow shenanigans, theres been one, pretty obvious, absent former cast member: Melissa McCarthy.

Sookie played such a crucial role in the series, but McCarthy’s stardom has made it hard for her to find the time.

Fans are guessing it would be a painful winter for Emily Gilmore, who would be a widow when the revival series opens. Rory’s frenemy, Paris (Liza Weil), is coming back despite her busy schedule doing ABC’s “How To Get Away With Murder”. Well it seems like something was lost in translation, perhaps between Sherman Palladino or Melissa (newly released from Mike & Molly jail) and her people, as Vulture points out. (Much like fellow Netflix revival property “Fuller House” will excuse Michelle’s absence.) The creator told TVLine that fans could expect a reference to the chef, but they’d still love to have McCarthy in the flesh if she was willing and able. That’s not the only great news the company announced via Twitter on January 30; Netflix also confirmed that series main cast Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop, and Scott Patterson, along with Sean Gunn and Keiko Agena, will be back to reprise their roles. And then McCarthy will say yes and we won’t be smad anymore.
