Tornadoes tearing through parts of the US
Up to 75 people were forced out of their homes on Tuesday after a massive wedge tornado tore through Aliceville, Alabama, a small town just across from the MS border. A total of six tornadoes have been reported in MS and Alabama, but it’s likely that they’re all from the same long-tracked system.

The state emergency agency asked residents to prepare for the possibility of severe storms into Wednesday morning.
“Flying debris will be unsafe to those caught without shelter”, the weather service announcement said.
The counties most at risk for a tornado through 5 p.m. will include Marion, Lamar, Pickens, and Sumter counties.
Baird said there were reports of trees down and building damage from the storm.
Thunderstorms are expected to develop as the weather system moves in producing damaging winds and lightning. Schools, businesses and institutions closed their doors and flights were canceled across states stretching from New Mexico to Upper Michigan. There is a slight chance for Tornadoes Tuesday so remain weather aware.
“We’re getting what are called supercells developing out ahead of this squall line”, said Jim Stefkovich, meteorologist in charge at the National Weather Service in Birmingham. The airmass is the most unstable closer to the Alabama-Mississippi state line.
The storms knocked trees and limbs down across multiple roads. She said it was unclear whether the damage on campus was caused by the tornado or straight-line winds. He said there also were some minor injuries.
