Texas reports case of sexually transmitted Zika virus
The best way to avoid Zika virus is to avoid mosquito bites and to avoid sexual contact with a person who has Zika virus.

Until now, however, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention hasn’t issued guidance about preventing Zika sexual transmission, citing a lack of evidence.
The county tweeted the infected person had sex with someone who acquired the mosquito-borne virus in Venezuela and who had recently traveled back to the U.S.
“And we know that the mosquitos that carry Zika virus – if that association is confirmed – are present… through Africa, parts of southern Europe and many parts of Asia, particularly South Asia…”
Oh no. Looks like the first sexually transmitted case of the Zika virus has been reported, and Texans might have reason to worry.
Both individuals have a history of travel to a Zika affected country, Ireland’s Health Service Executive (HSE) confirmed.
The World Health Organization this week called the Zika virus a public health emergency.
Brazil’s government has declared an all-out offensive to eradicate the Aedes aegypti mosquito that transmits the virus by biting people and breeds in stagnant water. “We have seen cases or isolated cases of Zika spread by sexual transmission”.
Brazil, where the virus has been spreading since last May, reports a large increase in cases of microcephaly – a condition in which a baby’s brain is too small.
Jeannette Dabanch, director of the Chilean Society of Infectious Diseases, said that a Chilean man was found ill after returning from Colombia and was being treated at a hospital in Santiago.
A potentially frightening new twist when it comes to the Zika Virus.
Although the CDC has not identified Florida as an “area of local Zika risk,” the Florida Department of Health said it is monitoring the disease. If confirmed, this will be the first evidence of the virus being spread through sexual contact in the United States, and only the second such case worldwide. “And if you do get sick, it only causes mild fever, red eyes, joint pain, and joint aches”.
