Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay blamed Chief Minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal for staying away from the city while Delhities suffered due to the civic agitation.
He said that the state government had allocated more money to the MCD this fiscal in comparison to the previous years. “The Delhi government is facing Rs.3,000 crore value added tax shortfall”. We want a permanent solution.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday announced a loan of Rs 551 crore for payment of salaries to agitating workers of two municipal corporations, but failed to end the strike.
It sought immediate release of municipal reforms funds which are already provided under the recommendation of 3rd Finance Commission but not being released by the Delhi government for the last three financial years. “We have made a decision to continue with the strike till the issue is resolved”, said Dr Maruti Sinha, secretary, Municipal Corporation Doctors Association (MCDA).
The Congress slammed the Aam Aadmi Party’s city government, saying Kejriwal was trying to take undue credit. He also announced release of Rs 142 crore of stamp duty to north corporation.
“The BJP, which ruled the MCD for 10 years, is responsible for its poor financial situation”.
Ministers and agencies of the Delhi government and AAP leaders have started lifting garbage which has been lying unattended on the roads and community bins ever since the strike of civic workers started. While the North MCD requires Rs 650 crore for clearing dues, the EDMC needs Rs 500 crore for the same.
Kejriwal said situation in the MCDs is such that they should be dissolved and fresh elections be held immediately. Funds given to civic bodies have been diverted. There are huge scams in MCDs.

Kejriwal said there was a clear case of mismanagement of funds by the civic bodies and demanded a CBI probe. The Delhi government had not paid that citing that there were no reforms carried out by the municipal bodies.
