However, January signing Kirchhoff has stressed that the luck will swing Sunderland’s way if they continue to play in a similar manner.
“We will see what the manager wants to do, whether we play together”.
“I don’t know anybody who has played better than that in central midfield for anybody”.
Read the full interview here: Meanwhile, Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce is meeting the press today ahead of the Premier League match against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.
“It was a hard game, but we did well and it was nice to get on”.
However, with the loss keeping Sunderland four points adrift of safety in 19th, the manager admitted they are in a unsafe position.
“It is only a miss of a few chances today, and good chances, and perhaps on another day we might have actually converted two, never mind one. Jermain Defoe wriggled himself with one really good chance, which Hart made a fantastic save from”.
Allardyce said: “I think it’s the most disappointed I’ve been since I’ve been here with the result ending up as it is because we deserved so much more”. We are not in a hurry to start games because we have just come.
“To play as well as we did has to be encouraging, even though I feel really gutted. It had to fall to (Sergio) Aguero – sadly a deflection put it into his path. I said, ‘Unlucky lads, great performance, but not the result we were looking for”.

“If we can win three or four games then we will be on the way up”.
