Doom Release Date, $120 Collector’s Edition Announced

It’ll set you back $119.99, €129.99 or £99.99, thanks to the wonders of regional pricing, versus the normal version’s pre-order price of $59.99, €59.99 or £39.99 on Steam.

Bethesda and Id Software have announced that Doom will be released on May 13th, 2016 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Bethesda have also revealed the game’s collector’s edition, and what you get for pre-ordering.

Doom is set to hit PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

The collector’s edition includes a 12-inch tall statue of the Revenant demon “modeled from actual in-game 3D files”. Wolfenstein’s most recent full game was tremendous, and I hope I’ll be saying the same thing about DOOM this time next year. This statue has an LED-lit base and will slowly spin around.

Normally we’d shrug off a PEGI 18 rating faster than you can hijack a vehicle in GTA, but DOOM’s campaign trailer is absolutely brutal. Playing as the iconic DOOM Marine, you must save the Union Aerospace Corporation’s Mars facility from demons.

As is the case with many a revered franchise these days, there’s a collector’s edition too. This comes with a demon armor set, which itself features three skin variations, six paint colors, and three id Software patterns to put on your armor and weapons.
