Israeli military seals off Palestinian attackers’ village
He said the murder marked a “moral nadir”.

The father of Mohammed Abu Khdeir reportedly asked during a closed sentencing hearing last month that the court destroy their homes as they would for a Palestinian terrorist.
Authorities have said Abu Khdeir was killed in retaliation.
The court’s actions have been closely watched at a time of renewed Israeli-Palestinian tensions. The younger boy received a lighter sentence because the court ruled he was not involved in actual murder but took part in the acts leading up to it. Both sentences were unusually long for minors in Israel.
A photo from the scene shared by police showed two kitchen knives on the ground beside a calculator, pens and other school supplies. They have not been identified because they were minors.
The two defendants, whose names were withheld from publication due to their age, and an adult ringleader were found guilty in November of the abduction, bludgeoning, strangling and burning of 16-year-old Mohammed Abu Khudair.
Khadeir’s grisly murder shocked the country and contributed to the outbreak of the 2014 Gaza War.

Officers opened fire and killed the attackers, police said, adding they were all from the northern West Bank village of Qabatiya, near Jenin.
Police later found knives and two pipe bombs on the three assailants, indicating that this could have been a much bigger attack.
The homes of the three men were searched and around a dozen acquaintances or relatives arrested during the Israeli military operation.
This morning, clashes broke out between Israeli soldiers and locals protesting the closure of the village and the Israeli army’s violence against Qabatiya civilians.
A 15-year-old was transported to hospital after being hit by an Israeli jeep and four people were wounded by Israeli gunfire, said Palestinian medics.
There was no unrest in Palestinian areas in response to the verdict but the real test may come when the killers are sentenced in January.

The violence has also left 30 Israelis dead and 310 injured over the same period.
